Know before you go: outdoor dining is rather common around Austin. Since it is January, evening temperatures can be a little chilly, so a light jacket is never a bad idea.

SIGHTS TO SEE
Hailed as the sacred springs of Austin, a trip to Barton Springs is the perfect way to spend a couple of hours relaxing outdoors—it’s a local favorite. Know before you go: Admission is free during the winter. However, double-check the list of prohibited items on their website. You can (and should) bring a water bottle with you.
South Congress
The South Congress neighborhood is home to shopping, tasty eats, and iconic photo ops. It’s a great place to take an afternoon stroll or engage in people watching. Parking can be tricky, so plan accordingly.
